Is there a relationship between the size of furo and ro sumi?  My first thought when I saw the sizes was Kanejaku vs Kujirajaku. Are there any thoughts or writings about this?

Both furo and ro sumi are measured in kanejaku. Kujirajaku is used to measure different things, ex. fabrics.

If you show length of sumi in sun [寸] you can notice that longer pieces are different by 1 sun, and shorter pieces by 0,5 sun.

In addition to the basic measurements, you will notice that the circumference of each piece of sumi is quite a bit different.  The Do zumi for the Ro is immense compared to the do zumi for the fuuro.  The using ro sumi is totally impractical for use with a benibachi, for instance, as the tetsubin would come into contact with the sumi if ro sumi were to be use; it would be just impossible to use ro sumi in a benibachi, so of course fuuro sumi would be a must, emphasizing the difference in sizes.
