I’m looking for the measurements of the mizusashi used for habuta in Urasenke. Do you have the diameter and height of this type of mizusashi? I realize that all of them might not the same size but I want a few examples to go by when looking for a mitatte version.

My habutamizusashi is 18,7 cm high and 13,3 cm in diameter.

You will find more if you look for “葉蓋水指 高さ” on http://www.rakuten.co.jp

Thomas’s answer is great, but just so you know that there’s a little flexibility, Tankosha’s most recent dogu catalogue has the diameter as 13.8cm and the height 18.6cm. http://imgur.com/a/m8G8L

Per a rough translation by one of my japanese students (and confirmation with Google Translate), the Urasenke #19 ISBN 978-4-473-03719-0 (the newest series of temae books) says that a ceramic mizusashi (or “water finger” according to Google 🙂 is ok.  Larger ones are unacceptable because the leaf must cover the opening.  So i suppose your limitation is your access to fresh large leaves.
