Research on Kitamuki Dōchin and Nōami
I would like to ask the tea community if there is anyone researching the chanoyu and teachings of Rikyū’s first teacher, Kitamuki Dōchin? Also Dōchin’ teacher, Nōami.
When Oribe was asked who had the greater influence on Rikyū’s tea, Dōchin or Jōō, Oribe replied that ‘if I had to say, it would be Dōchin’ (from the manuscript ‘Question and Answer with Oribe’ 茶道長門織答少, also known as A Record of Sōho’s Enquiries to Oribe 宗甫公古織江御尋書.
If there is existing research, or research being conducted on Dōchin and Nōami, I would be extremely grateful to be lead towards it.
Existing publications (any language), researchers, temples with strong links to these figures, etc., all received with deep gratitude.
